Known amongst the lycanthrope community across the country, The Frenzy is led by one of only two known female Ulfrics. This pack has been local to New Orleans for over two decades, with leadership changing hands twice before the current Ulfric, Mariah Kindred. Originally the pack had started off as a local biker gang and was dubiously named "The Frenzy" because of the wild hunts and blood sports the then-alpha, Leon Butcher, had the pack participate in. The pack would change greatly over its initial inception when Butcher was challenged and killed by the infinitely more charismatic Philip Dumas.
Dumas ruled his fellow lukoi with an iron fist, and while he still encouraged the blood sports and wild hunts, he steered the pack away from its biker roots. Outwardly, the pack took on a more public-friendly image. The biker leathers and spiked collars were replaced with sleek suits and hidden marks of initiation. The wolves that rebelled were killed outright and the lupanar ground became soggy with pack blood. Dumas would involve his wolves in the local crime rings. For the right price, the wolves would act as enforcers and they made Philip rich.
Initially, the pack benefitted from the money as well. An apartment building was purchased for housing, and there were cars aplenty. Still, Philip's involvement in human affairs was far from appreciated. This caused problems with the local rats and outright disapproval came from the pack when Philip started pushing the females into prostitution. With the way they healed and shrugged off most diseases, they could cater to a more masochistic crowd. Philip was convinced that this would only bring in more money and support his own rapidly growing lavish lifestyle.
The tension would eventually come to a head and not one but three wolves went Fenrir. Dumas would dispatch the first two easily enough and laughed when he saw Mariah was the third. Ultimately, Mariah dispatched Philip with a frightening ease. She had always been a quiet dominant in the background, and easily overshadowed. Now she stood before them soaked in blood and pronounced herself Ulfric.
Pack dynamics were radically changed again. Mariah gave the wolves a day to decide whether they would stay or go. Many of the members would leave, uncomfortable with the female king and how easily they were cowed by her power. In-fighting would persist for quite some time. Mariah was challenged repeatedly and it was only after the fifth man had failed that things began to settle down. Philip's former criminal ties were cut and the money folded into more pack holdings.
The current incarnation of The Frenzy is its smallest to date with a little over two hundred members. More than half the pack is female, with a far larger dominant ratio than the average wolf pack. The pack tradition of the wild hunt is still kept, and they gather three times a year for this purpose.
