Character Name: Faye Mayfield

Date & Place of Birth: 3 February 1971, Atlanta, Georgia

Character Type: Were-leopard

Character Occupation & Skills: Faye works for the public relations firm Moore & Wells. It is a fairly lucrative job, thanks in part to her skills and because the firm is often contracted by local politicians for gala events or fundraisers. Faye tends to keep the administrative side of things, preferring to stay out of the spotlight whenever she can help it. What this means is she's got a rolodex full of contacts concerning catering, valet parking, decorations, security, any number of permits and other innumerable odds and ends. Nothing catches Faye by surprise so if it doesn't look like one will pull through she's perfectly capable and more than a little willing to find a replacement without a hitch.

When forced to into the social part of the firm's events, Faye plays the part of a butterfly. She's charming, witty and is interested in every word that comes out of your mouth and is gone before you can find anything out past her name and occupation. Make no mistake, the woman is good at what she does -- she just doesn't enjoy it much on a personal level these days.

Abilities: Infected with leopard lycanthropy, Faye possesses the common disease traits of accelerated healing, enhanced senses, increased strength, a nasty allergy to silver and the unfortunate need to go animal once a month. While not an alpha, Faye's beast is on the very high end of dominant. She has little enough to worry about from the average leopard and is just powerful enough to make life difficult for an alpha if she is so inclined. Much like a bug that you keep trying to crush but just can't quite get, Faye's beast is exceptionally hard to pin down. It isn't impossible, of course, but the effort required often makes it more trouble than it's worth.

When it comes to shifting, Faye is capable of both half and full leopard forms. She has on occasion been known to shift her hands into claws, but this seems to be more of a reaction than a conscious effort of control.

Appearance: Best described as fae-like or willowy, Faye is long of limb and thin as a runway model. She measures in at 5'7", weighing all of 130 lbs. when soaking wet. Her eyes are impossibly wide, giving her a perpetual deer-in-headlights expression if she's not careful. Her nose is nothing to write home about, her mouth a tad too thin and her jaw more square than round. Even so, Faye manages to be a looker. The combination of thick, dark hair, deep brown eyes and a perfect porcelain complexion give her an ethereal sort of air.

In her leopard forms she puts on a noticeable mass of muscle and is slightly larger than average. Her coat is a rich dark brown, nearly black, making the rosettes on her fur only visible in strong light. While in either the half or full leopard form, Faye's eyes bleed over to a milky jade green.

Personality & History: Born and raised in a firmly middle class family, Faye nevertheless acquired a taste for the finer things in life thanks to overindulgent parents. Her father worked hard and her mother is capable of giving a Stepford wife a run for her money. As such, Faye and her younger sister needed little but always wanted more. Spoiled as they were, both girls realized there was a measure of work involved in getting what you want.

Faye in particular had a gift for charm and all-too subtle manipulation. These traits served her well, so it was of no surprise that by the time Faye entered high school she was the most popular girl around. She was head cheerleader, dated the captain of the football team and took the homecoming queen crown. It would have resembled a John Hughes movie if it hadn't been so effortless.

This changed a bit when Faye decided to attend college. Her reasons for this had little to do with academia. She wanted more than hokey high school adoration, wanted to be away from her parents and more importantly wanted to find a husband who would give her what she wanted (an absurdly luxurious lifestyle). It was selfish, but that was Faye, and if she wanted it than she would have it.

College life took some adjusting on Faye's part. There was a hell of a lot more apathy and competition, but she wouldn't be deterred. Faye managed to make the right connections, to patiently wait for opportunity to arise. It may have taken a bit longer than she would have liked, but by her fourth year Faye met a med student seven years her senior. He was graduating in three months and his father, a renowned heart surgeon, had a place reserved for him in a prestigious private practice.

They married a year later, after Faye graduated with a BA in Leisure Studies.

It wasn't an entirely loveless marriage, more of a convenience that both enjoyed. The young doctor had a pretty trophy wife and Faye had the means to live as a pampered princess. She didn't mind the affairs that started shortly after and he didn't mind the credit card bills. They each got something they had wanted and so as long as the other didn't interfere it would work.

There was a minor shift when, at thirty, Faye became pregnant. Initially shaken, Faye warmed up to the thought of a child rather quickly. This was something of a shock to those that knew her and her husband simply agreed to whatever she wanted. Nine months later when Annabelle Mayfield was born, Faye decided right then nothing would ever be as important as her daughter.

For the next four years Faye devoted herself to fulfilling her daughter's every wish. She had become both a little more and a little less selfish. Her husband doted on his daughter but he and Faye had been sleeping in separate rooms since she had been born. Still things managed to run smoothly as everyone still got they wanted.

This all changed the morning after Annabelle's fifth birthday. Faye had taken to jogging in the wee hours of the morning to fight her imaginary battle with the bulge. This particular morning was only different because the moon had been full the night before and still hung heavy in the sky when Faye headed out for the trail.

The attack was swift and brutal. She would have died if another jogger hadn't found her and called 911. By the time Faye woke up in the hospital a week later her life as she knew it was over. Blood tests a day prior had told her husband all he needed to know. There were divorce papers at her beside, instructions to what she was going to do and a hefty deposit made to her bank account to make sure they were followed. If they weren't, then the four calls a year he'd graciously allow her to make to Annabelle would be taken away and the reason for the divorce would change from irreconcilable differences to something closer to the truth.

Her husband had his own reasons for keeping her new dirty secret, but Faye was all too aware that it was primarily a lifelong source of blackmail.

Utterly defeated and having no choice, Faye did as she was told. New Orleans wasn't her first choice, but it was as close as she could be to Annabelle without arousing her ex-husband's suspicion. Her induction to the local pard was laughable at best. Faye had little interest in exploring the depths of her beast and only threw her little-understood power around when forced to participate. She has been difficult from the beginning, disobeying Selene frequently and showing little remorse on the numerous occasions when she's been beaten bloody. After her punishments, Faye will dutifully show up for a meeting or three before going back to making herself scarce. It is its own vicious cycle, and the only reason Faye hasn't been killed is because there seemed to be an unspoken understanding between her and Selene. Faye would let the self-named queen get in her licks with no fuss, but if she felt her life was truly threatened she'd put up the sort of fight Selene wouldn't be guaranteed to win. If it were up to Faye, she wouldn't even be part of the Pard; she is content to be a solitary creature and her forced inclusion has made her anything but happy.

While she is still grieving and at times suffers from major bouts of depression, Faye is returning to a semblance of her former self. Her job at Moore & Wells proves this and since Faye is somewhat extreme in her feelings, it isn't any surprise that she's devoted herself to nothing but work for the past two years. While she's perfectly aware that her personal issues need to be dealt with and that talking to someone (anyone at this point) would help, Faye isn't having any of it. She's purposely cornered herself off and is content to make herself miserable when no one is looking.
